Research Developments in Biofield Therapy and in Meditation

I’m excited to share several developments in research that feel especially meaningful to me personally and professionally.
For many years, practices such as meditation, qigong, and energy healing have often been dismissed or misunderstood in mainstream culture. Having endured my share of eye rolls from less open-minded friends and colleagues over the years, I’m genuinely encouraged to see science beginning to explore these fields with increasing seriousness and curiosity.
One particularly groundbreaking development comes from researchers affiliated with MD Anderson Cancer Center, whose recent study on biofield therapy found a significant reduction in pancreatic cancer metastasis in laboratory models.

I was equally fascinated by recent research published in the journal Neuroscience of Consciousness and reported in WIRED. The study found that meditation is not simply “rest” or relaxation, but an active and dynamic brain state associated with complex changes in neural activity.
As the researchers noted:
“The brain in meditation does not simply calm down but rather enters a dynamic state rich with information.”
